EA Sports FC 27 early access opens on Friday 18 September 2026 — a full week before the 25 September launch — for anyone holding the Ultimate or Ultimate Plus edition. It is the whole game, not a trial, and everything you do in that week stays with you.

What the week is actually worth
The honest answer depends entirely on which mode you play, and most guides will not tell you that because the upgrade pays them either way.
- Ultimate Team: genuinely significant. Seven days of a market where almost nobody has coins compounds. Early SBC fodder is cheap, promo cards enter a thin market, and objectives that reset weekly give you an extra cycle nobody else gets.
- Career Mode: worth little. A save is a save whether you start it on the eighteenth or the twenty-fifth. Nothing is competitive and nothing is time-limited.
- Clubs and Rush: mixed. You will play the first week against other early-access buyers, which is a smaller and generally better pool. That cuts both ways.
If you only play Career Mode, early access is a week of being slightly early to a single-player game. That is not worth an edition upgrade.
The cheaper ways in
- The Web App costs nothing. It opens before early access does — expected 16 September, though EA has not confirmed it — and you can trade, open packs, complete SBCs and start Evolutions without owning the game at all. - EA Play trials. EA’s subscription has historically included a limited early trial on some platforms. Check what EA lists for FC 27 rather than assuming last year’s terms carried over.
- FC 27 Lite. Free, but from 25 September at 16:00 UTC — launch day, not before.
The order that actually makes sense for most people: get on the Web App the day it opens, and decide about the edition upgrade after you have seen what the market looks like.
Before the eighteenth
- Pre-load. The download is large and launch-day bandwidth is not kind.
- Turn on Login Verification, using an authenticator app rather than email — EA’s verification mails are the most reliably delayed part of any launch.
- Confirm which EA account your platform is actually linked to. Wrong account, empty club.
- Check you can receive mail at the address on that account, while there is still time to change it.

Is early access the full game?
Yes. Every mode, no time limit, and your progress carries into launch.
Does the Standard edition get early access?

Can I play early without paying more?
You can use the Web App for free before early access even begins — trading, packs, SBCs and Evolutions, but no matches. Matches need the game.
Is the upgrade worth it?
For Ultimate Team, often yes — a week in an empty market compounds. For Career Mode, no.
Can I still pre-order?
The Ultimate window runs to 24 September 2026. Ultimate Plus early bird closed on 31 August.
Will my FC 26 club carry over?
No. Ultimate Team clubs do not carry between editions. FC Points do; coins do not.
